The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta is to transform the lives of children through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring, well trained volunteers.

Stephanie and Autumn have been matched since February 2006 through BBBS Site based program.

Autumn joined the program so that she could have a new and different experience in her life and, to make new friends. Stephanie says she joined BBBS for my own daughter. I would like to think that if she ever was in situation where she needed a friend, mentor or assistance from someone other than me that a caring and loving person would step up to fill the role. If I want this for my own daughter, then I have to be willing to do the same for someone else’s daughter.
Autumn was very quiet and stand-offish when we first met. It was a little hard to start up a conversation and I had to do a lot of the talking.
Today, she starts talking before we even have a chance to sit down. She loves to tell me about her family, her new baby sister and all the things she has been doing since we saw each other last. I think she has warmed up to me and considers me a trusted friend.I truly enjoy her company and I too can't wait for our visits each week to hear more about what is going on in her daily life (such as talking about her friends and school projects.) We both think that it great to have a new friend that you can talk toand confide in as well as getting to spend an hour of our week having fun.
